Rarely is mastectomy necessary and cure rates remain equally as good.

Only occasionally is full lymph node removal necessary. Dr Foreman is the only surgeon in this area to do what has now become the standard of care - Sentinal Lymph Node Biopsy.

Nowadays most breast cancer surgery is actually done as out-patient surgery with very little disability.

Almost always we work as a team with surgery, radiation therapy and chemo/hormone therapy to obtain the best results.

All women should follow the American Cancer Society’s recommendations regarding breast cancer screening

	Monthly BSE (Breast Self Exam) starting in the 20’s
	Annual Physician Exam every three years age 20-30 annually age 40
	Annual Mammography starting at age 40
	If you have an increased risk - for example a family history or previous breast cancer - you may need to talk to your doctor in regard to frequency and type of screening

A breast lump must always have a diagnosis.
